Just fit enough to get the lap top out and working! Still feel very poorly due to the bug have been to see doctor and have pills to take. the chambers are temporary out of action as this bug takes 10 to 15 days to get out of your system. I think it's completely ridiculous that majority of the class received less than 6 out of 10 and i think it's even more ridiculous that some people received 1/10 on this vocabulary assignment. The whole idea of you collecting these was to point out if we were doing anything wrong and teach us so we could do better next time. Just because it is wrong doesn't mean we didn't try. This was supposed to be a learning experience and giving us all bad grades isn't helping us learn any better than giving good grades.
All that should matter is that the effort is there, and i personally spent a little over half an hour on this assignment and did try hard on it, and although the context clues and sentences may not be as you wanted it was an honest mistake and although i now recall your lesson upon first giving us these assignments explaining how to do it right, i just forgot about it while i was doing it. In math class we do our homework and even if everything may be all wrong we learn from going over it in class and get full credit. By giving some people 1/10s you're teaching us that by trying, but not doing things right even if you do try hard, it's basically just as bad as not doing it at all. In my oppinion anyone who completed the assignment on time and it looks like they put reasonable effort into it should get AT LEAST! 7/10. How does somebody who tried hard on the assignment and turned it in on time receive a WORSE grade than somebody who hands in the assignment late, but does it correctly? This was a homework assignment not a test or a quiz which is what you graded it like. I now see where your reputation as a very hard grader comes from. I'm not the only one, upon leaving the class nearly everyone was talking about how unfair the grading was. Please consider this and if not listen to my "just" plan on grading at least raise everyone to a 5/10, no one deserves a 1/10 for completing the assignment even if it is wrong. I know this is kind of an overreaction and it's only a 10, but the principle of doing this really bothers me. In addition i hate starting the year off on a bad note and i don't want to work the whole quarter to bring my grade up I want to have it up and keep it up. P.S. Don't worry though, i don't hate you as a teacher, i just strongly disagree with the way you graded this vocab assignment, P.P.S and while i'm on the topic you grade some of those TKAM quizes very harshly as well |
